What Are the Deeper Roots To Taboodoir?
Many have asked, “what brought Taboodoir to life?” It’s a very personal story that is near and dear to my heart! I have shared the story in the About section of our webpage, which I invite you to read! But, before reading the story, I’ll add a little more color and give you a little background on myself…and apologies in advance for the somewhat for the lengthy read!
Growing up I was a science nerd – I spent countless hours in an agricultural lab working on an eight-year science research project. This project stemmed from a requirement in my Discovery/gifted program in elementary school and came from an article I read in a Scientific American publication. While I won’t bore you with the details of the research (albeit it was really quite fascinating!), my research evolved over the 8 years. Alongside the actual research process were numerous science fairs (on a local, regional, state and international level) and many other competitions.
I was very much intrigued by the research and competed on every imaginable level throughout middle and high school with numerous awards and accolades. A few included representing the US (and carrying our flag in the opening ceremony) at the London International Youth Science Forum, being interviewed on BBC Radio, selected as a Westinghouse Science Talent Search Finalist (check out the pic with President Clinton – yes, I’m aging myself…but, hey…little did I know back then that I’d be wearing our magenta signature color!!!), but my ultimate accomplishment: 1st Place internationally!!
Needless to say, I probably wasn’t considered part of the “cool club” in school…but I was perfectly content with it because I LOVED being a science/lab nerd!! While everyone thought I would set out to continue my science/lab “nerdom,” life took me down a much different path – a 15-year career in Human Resource and Workforce Management software sales – until COVID-19.
In April 2020, at the onset of the pandemic and everything going into lockdown, I was one in a long line of successful sales professionals faced with an abrupt career disruption. With two young kiddos and schools turning to a virtual environment – followed by the cancellation of all summer camps – I postponed exploring a new career path at that time…all the while asking myself, “what now?!?”
This is where the story picks up and where my sweet, amazing husband, David, would say, “Put some taboo on you!!!”
While it is certainly not the same without David, I absolutely love and enjoy what I do, as I get to combine my love of research, “lab work” with product development, and create beautiful and luxurious bath and body products for all to enjoy!!!
